Creative Tools

  • Record two microphones together with two additional line-level sources, making it possible to capture vocals, instruments, synthesizers and drum machines simultaneously.
  • Expand the system with an ADAT-equipped microphone preamp or converter to add up to eight digital input channels for recording drums, ensembles and small bands.
  • Switch the optical input to SPDIF mode for connection to compatible digital instruments, preamps, media players and converters.
  • Use Auto-Gain to establish suitable microphone or instrument recording levels automatically.
  • Enable Clip Protection to catch unexpected peaks before they create digital distortion during a performance.
  • View input selection, levels and operating settings through the full-colour Smart Display.
  • Select Warmth mode for tube-inspired depth, Focus for a tighter American solid-state character or Shine for an airy British Class-A-inspired response.
  • Apply different Tone Shaping modes to the two preamp channels to suit individual microphones, performers or instruments.
  • Power condenser microphones independently on either channel, allowing condenser, dynamic and suitable ribbon microphones to be combined in one session.
  • Connect external processors through line outputs 3–4 and return the processed audio through the additional line inputs.
  • Send independent signals to a second pair of monitors, an external headphone amplifier, hardware effects or other studio equipment using outputs 3–4.
  • Connect MIDI keyboards, drum machines, synthesizers and controllers through the TRS MIDI input and output.
  • Connect and power a compatible USB MIDI controller through the integrated USB-C hub while preserving a USB port on the host computer.
  • Blend microphones and instruments with computer audio using loopback for podcasts, livestreams, gameplay and remote interviews.
  • Create low-latency cue mixes and recall interface settings through UAD Console and integrated LUNA sessions.
  • Power the interface from a compatible computer for mobile production, or use external USB power when operating a larger mobile setup.
